Concord Basketball to Play Exhibition at Marshall

Posted:

ATHENS, W. Va. – In preparation for the 2013-14 season, the Concord University men's basketball team will play an exhibition game against Marshall University, Concord head coach Kent McBride announced Wednesday.

The contest will be played on Oct. 29 in Huntington, W. Va. at the Cam Henderson Center. The exact tip-off time will be announced at a later date.

The game will mark the first time that the Mountain Lions and Thundering Herd have met since the two schools played an exhibition contest at Marshall on Nov. 4, 2010.

Concord is set to return five players from its 2012-13 team that finished the year 16-11 overall and 12-10 in West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition.

The Mountain Lions, which will compete in the Mountain East Conference in 2013-14, begin their 28-game regular season schedule vs. Fayetteville State on Nov. 8 in Winston-Salem, N.C. as part of the Winston-Salem State Invitational.

Now entering his third season as Concord's head coach, McBride has guided the Mountain Lions to winning seasons in each of his first two years; he is 33-23 during his tenure in Athens.
