Backpack related injuries, a danger to students

BECKLEY (WVVA) -- Kids across southern West Virginia are heading back to school, and that means extra strain on their minds and backs.

Backpack related injuries are a real danger to students, especially while their bodies are growing.

Experts say students should always wear two straps, and the bag should sit no lower than four inches below the waist.  Plus, students should only be carrying five to ten percent of their body weight.

This is all to prevent abnormal curvature of the spine.
