Neighbors fed up with a vermin infestation, they say isn't their problem

BECKLEY (WVVA) -- A house fire a couple of months ago in Beckley revealed to the owners that roaches had infested in the walls.

On its own, that's not an issue, but neighbors next door say the surviving pests have traveled to their homes, causing major problems.

Charles Straub is one of those neighbors living next door to the source.  He says he's never had a problem with vermin until this summer.

"You can't have peace of mind," says Straub.  "Every time you walk through the house you look for roaches, every time you go to the bathroom you look for roaches.  In the middle of the night, and most times you'll see one.  It's sad to say."

The city has stepped in and contacted the owner.  They say right now the landlord has taken immediate action.  If the problem continues, fines could be in order.
