COPY-National car show benefits local hospital

BECKLEY (WVVA) -- Cars from all over this region of the country were on display in southern West Virginia Sunday.

The Shade Tree Car Club held its 22nd annual National Car Show.

Cars all the way to the early 1900s flocked to the lawn of Jackie Withrow Hospital.

This is the car club's largest event of the season, but they say what it's really about is the chance to give to people at the hospital.

"We give to hospice also.  And we give to the humane society, and then we give to this... for the older people to maybe have games or something done for them, played with them during the Christmas holiday.  A lot of them don't have family to come and help them do anything, so we give to them, so they can do something," says Gay Adkins, with the Shade Tree Car Club.

The car club has another show planned for next Sunday at Crossroads Mall during the Appalachian Festival.  Their final show this year will be at Tamarack in September.
