Pulaski Tops Bluefield; Jays Still In First Place

BLUEFIELD, Va (WVVA) -- The Bluefield Jays couldn't get a hit when it mattered Sunday night. The Jays went 1-7 with runners in scoring position in their 5-2 loss to the Pulaski Mariners.

The first-place Jays are now 2.5 games up on the second-place Mariners, making the final two games of the three-game-series that much more important.

The Jays also honored longtime President George McGonagle with a bobblehead and ceremony. McGonagle is the 2013 Minor League King of Baseball, an honor given to members of the minor league baseball community as a lifetime achievement award.

McGonagle has been working for the Bluefield Baseball Club since 1951.
