Police: Bluewell shooting ruled accidental



BLUEWELL, W. Va (WVVA)-- Police have ruled the shooting that happened near Lorton Lick Monday evening to be accidental.

Sergeant Miller with the West Virginia State Police said a man was holding a gun and accidentally shot himself in the finger and leg. 

So far, that man has not been identified.  Miller said as of Tuesday morning, the victim is doing well.

Trooper Graham with the West Virginia State Police is the investigating officer in the case.


One person was transported to the hospital after a shooting in Bluewell on Monday.

Dispatchers said it happened at 9p.m. near Lorton Lick.

WVVA is working to get additional details, but at this hour there is no word yet on the extent of the individual's injuries or whether an arrest has been made.

At this point, it is unclear whether the shooting in Bluewell is related to a shooting that happened earlier in the evening in Lashmeet. 

State police are handling the investigation.
