BECKLEY (WVVA) - The Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles followed senior leaders Drew Johnson and Ramon Edwards to a 2012 playoff spot, but with both of those players now gone the Eagles are turning to their younger players for leadership.
The team is coming off a 6 -5 season and a playoff appearance, but are looking for more in the 2013 campaign.
The eagles have some big holes to fill, including the roles of starting quarterback and leading rusher.
"We did lose some good players and we lost a lot of offense," said head coach John Lilly, "but everybody in the state lost it too so it's just up to us to bring in the new group and next man step and next man play."
The Flying Eagles don't seem fazed by the lack of experience on the offensive side of the ball -- in fact, it seems to be pushing the guys even more.
"They're pretty motivated and your best players are self-motivated so we got quite a few of those young men on our team and usually good things happen when you have that kind of kid," Lilly added.
