CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden will be the keynote speaker at the West Virginia Democratic Party's annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner in October.

West Virginia Democratic chairman Larry Puccio said Tuesday that Biden accepted an invitation from U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin to deliver the keynote address.

Puccio says this year's dinner will celebrate U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller's 50 years of public service to West Virginia.

Rockefeller announced in January that he will not seek a sixth term in 2014.

The dinner is scheduled for Oct. 12 at the Charleston Civic Center.
