Fairmont State fires dean charged in sex assault

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) -- Fairmont State University says it has fired a dean charged with sexually assaulting a man in an office at Wallman Hall.

School spokeswoman Amy Pellegrin said Tuesday that 68-year-old Peter Lach (LASH) was initially put on administrative leave after his arrest Sunday but has since been fired.

Lach had worked for Fairmont State since 2002 and was dean of the School of Fine Arts.

He was charged with second-degree sexual assault after a man told police the dean had physically restrained him and initiated an unwanted sexual act.

The victim says Lach became aggressive when he resisted and shoved him, causing him to fall and hit his head on a copy machine.

Lach is free on bond. He didn't immediately return a message seeking comment Tuesday.
