1 killed, 1 injured in Wyoming County ATV accident

HERNDON (WVVA) -- A woman was killed and a man injured in an ATV accident in Wyoming County Sunday.

The accident occurred at 6:05 p.m. on Bud Mountain Road, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department.

Brittany Phillips, 25, of Herndon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 32-year-old Barrett Johnson of Ravencliff was transported to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Sheriff Randall Aliff says it appears the driver lost control of the ATV and went over a hill. Aliff says speed may have played a factor in the crash.

Deputy Kevin Smith is investigating the accident.
