3 face charges after drug bust in Beckley

BECKLEY (WVVA) - Two adults and one juvenile face charges after police break up an apparent drug deal in Beckley.

Beckley Police received a call around 1 p.m. Wednesday of drug activity in Shoemaker Square, near the courthouse.

Upon arrival, police say they discovered 25-year-old Douglas Eugene Palmer II, 21-year-old Jack Alex Grimes and a 14-year-old female juvenile in possession of marijuana packaged in individual baggies for sale.

Palmer was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. He was transported to Southern Regional Jail pending arraignment.

Grimes was charged with possession of marijuana and released. The juvenile was turned over to her mother. Police say a juvenile petition will be obtained charging her with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

On July 31st 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m. the Beckley Police Department was contacted to report drug activity in Shoemaker Square, located uptown next to the Court House.  It was reported that a male later identified as Douglas Eugene Palmer II (25 yoa from Beckley) and a female later identified as a 14 year old juvenile appeared to be making drug transactions in the park. 

Officers responded to the area and found Palmer, the juvenile and a third male suspect, Jack Alex Grimes (21 yoa from Beckley) in possession of Marijuana that was packaged in individual baggies for sale. Palmer was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute and transported to the Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment by a Magistrate. The juvenile was released into the custody of her mother and a juvenile petition will be obtained charging her with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute.  Grimes was charged with Possession of Marijuana and released.
