IKES FORK (WVVA) - A portion of Route 52 has been named in the memory of a pair of highly-respected Wyoming County residents.

A three-mile stretch of the highway from the McDowell County line through the community of Ikes Fork in Wyoming County was dedicated as the 'David and Janet Lee Memorial Highway' during a service on Friday, July 26, according to information from the McDowell County Commission's website.

The Lees were lifelong members of the Ikes Fork community who served its residents in many ways, most notably as employees of the Wyoming County Board of Education.

Family and friends joined Sen. Truman Chafin during the dedication ceremony. Chafin, along with Senators Bill Cole, Daniel Hall and Mike Green introduced the resolution that was responsible for naming the highway, the Commission's website states.

David and Janet Lee are the parents of current WVEA President Dale Lee.
