Nearly 70 suspects sought in Giles Co. drug round up

PEARISBURG (WVVA) -- The Giles County Sheriff's Department, along with at least nine other law enforcement agencies, conducted a drug round up early Sunday morning, searching for 69 suspects on 120 drug related charges made in county limits since last December.

"This has been a big operation this time," says Sheriff Morgan Millirons.  "Everybody [was saying] I want to help...I have just about every off duty deputy here today along with the secretaries and dispatchers."

There were two busted meth labs, but the rest of the 120 charges stem from distribution of the following drugs:

- Marijuana

- Heroin

- Oxycontin

- Methamphetamine

- Cocaine

- Lortab

- Suboxone

- Adderall

- Methadone

- Dilaudid

- Morphine

- Klonopin

Sheriff Millirons says the majority of the charges from this round up revolve around prescription medication.  Many of the offenders are even looking to out of state sources to obtain the drugs.  "That is a terrible issue in Giles County is prescription medication.  [It] used to be [that] marijuana was an issue.  You'd see some cocaine.  But the biggest majority, nine out of ten of our charges are prescription medication."

The suspects will have bond hearings in district court on Tuesday and circuit court on Wednesday.
