EMT-Paramedic Program Awarded Accreditation

BECKLEY, W.Va.--(NEWS RELEASE)  New River Community and Technical College has received notification that its EMT-Paramedic Program has been awarded initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). 
 
A recent peer review conducted by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions the CAAHEP Board of Directors recognized the program's substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation standards.
 
"We are proud to receive accreditation of our EMT-Paramedic Program.  This accreditation ensures students and the community that we are providing learning opportunities that are rigorous and demanding for the world of work.  I am proud of our staff and faculty who have dedicated themselves to making this happen for the college and the communities we serve," stated New River President L. Marshall Washington.
 
New River offers the EMT-Paramedic program at its campuses in Lewisburg, Beckley, Princeton and Summersville.  The Paramedic Program is an intensive full-time four-semester certificate program designed to prepare students for careers as paramedics in a variety of healthcare settings as well as preparing and making them eligible to participate in the National Registry for EMTs testing program leading to national certification. The curriculum provides students with classroom, lab, field and clinical experiences in a variety of emergency care environments and facilities.
