CHARLESTON (NEWS RELEASE) -- On Tuesday, July 23, 2013, the West Virginia International Film Festival hosted the West Virginia premiere of the film "Oxyana," which addresses prescription drug abuse in the town of Oceana, WV. The screening, held at Park Place Stadium Cinemas, was followed by a panel discussion regarding prescription drug abuse and finding ways to address the problem featuring Justice Brent Benjamin of the WV Supreme Court of Appeals, Kim Miller of Prestera Center, and Kelly Sizemore, an advocate for recovery.

"We were very happy with both the quantity of attendees and quality of participation tonight," said Emmett Pepper, board member of the film festival and an organizer of the event. "We believe that showing this film helped foster an informative and productive dialog about this troubling problem," Pepper concluded.

The West Virginia International Film Festival is currently planning its schedule for the fall festival, and plans to continue to show compelling films like Oxyana filmed in the state and around the world.
