Female invasion at the Boy Scout Jamboree

MOUNT HOPE (WVVA) -- As you may know, this is the first time ladies are able to join the National Jamboree as scouts.

They're not quite Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts though.  They're part of a group called Venture Scouts.

Venture Scouts are a division of the Boy Scouts of America for both men and women.  They have the same pledge and values as normal Boy Scouts, but they're not as focused on the awards and rankings.  Scouting for these young men and women revolves around high adventure activities.

Women ventures say they've fit right in at the Jamboree this year.

"I can't express to you how amazing this experience has been for me," says Hesper Bath, a venture scout from Utah.  "All my life I've [seen] my brothers go to Boy Scout camp, and I was so jealous they got to do all these outdoor activities."

Even though this is their first time at the Jamboree, Venture Scouts are no strangers to scouting.  They've been around for about 15 years.
