RAINELLE (WVVA) - A Greenbrier County man has been charged with arson after police say he torched a home in Rainelle out of anger over being kicked out of a party.

Rainelle Police Chief J.P. Stevens says Joseph Martin, 24, of Meadow Bluff confessed to setting fire to the porch of a woman's home on Sixth Street using gasoline and matches.

The fire occurred around 8 a.m. Tuesday. The home was a total loss.

Stevens said Martin told police he was angry at the homeowner for kicking him out of a party there the night before.

Martin has been charged with arson and is currently being held on $50,000 bond.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Multiple departments responded to the scene.

RAINELLE, W. Va (WVVA)-- Police in Rainelle are investigating a possible case of arson.

One person has been arrested, according to Rainelle Police Chief JP Stevens. They are awaiting arraignment.

Police spent the morning interviewing witnesses and gathering information about what happened.

911 emergency dispatchers say the home on 6th street in Rainelle caught fire around 8 AM Tuesday.

When the call came in, flames were showing from outside the home, but the residents were not inside at the time.

Multiple fire departments responded, including Rainelle, Quinwood, Rupert, and Smoot was on standby.
