West Virginia plays instrumental role to making Jamboree 2013 a reality

MOUNT HOPE (WVVA) -- The relationship with the state of West Virginia plays a large role in what has brought the Summit Bechtel Reserve to life.

"We now have a playground for young men and young women that is unparalleled from anywhere in the world, so what we brought to West Virginia was something not just important to West Virginia, but important to the Boy Scouts of America and the world," says Wayne Perry, National President of the Boy Scouts of America.

Plus contractors from the Summit Bechtel Reserve have out almost 750 West Virginians to work.  More than 300,000 hours of community service will be completed over nine counties.  And for visitors to the mountain state, the secret is out on its natural beauty.

"Probably 80 percent of the people we bring here have never been to West Virginia, and what are they going to go home and think about West Virginia, versus what they used to think," says Perry.

This is only the beginning of bringing thousands every year to the wild and wonderful.
