Murder suspect's prelim hearing moved to Sept.

PRINCETON (WVVA) - Latasha Kanode's preliminary hearing was scheduled for this afternoon, but court officials say she signed a time waiver, moving the hearing to Sept. 3.

Police say Kanode admitted that she and 32-year old Steven McDonald of Bluefield had discussed robbing and killing the victim -- 44-year old Sherry Matthews of Princeton.

She said they went to the residence to act as though they were buying pills when they killed Matthews and stole more than $11,000 in cash.

Both McDonald and Kanode face charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, robbery, burglary and conspiracy.

A second victim, A second victim, 41-year-old Edward Thomas, was wounded in the incident.

McDonald's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.
