How do you feed 40,000 scouts?

GLEN JEAN (WVVA) - With more than 40,000 scouts and volunteers at the National Jamboree you may wonder, ‘how are organizers feeding this massive amount of people?'

A spokesperson tells WVVA News food is provided for all the scouts through a distribution company, but they cook it themselves.

The menu includes everything from eggs in the morning to beef stew for dinner.

Scouts also have a shelf-stable packed lunch that they can eat whenever they want during the day.

"It's like bringing an army division in one place at one point but you are doing it with volunteers who may have never seen this sight before that have never worked together, that suddenly converge and try and coordinate this symphony movement to enable the feeding of all these scouts," said

As for the staff, volunteers and visitors, there's a mess hall and places to chow down at Summit Center.
