W.Va. delegation asks Obama to OK storm aid

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia's congressional delegation is asking President Barack Obama to approve the state's request for federal disaster aid.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is seeking a major disaster declaration following the mid-June storms that resulted in flooding, landslides and mudslides.

U.S. Senators Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Representatives Shelley Moore Capito, Nick Rahall and David McKinley sent a letter Friday to the president asking him to review and approve the request.

The letter says the storms caused damage in communities where the elderly, the disabled and residents with fixed incomes live.
