WELCH (WVVA) -- U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin spoke to McDowell County senior citizens at the McDowell County Commission on Aging to discuss senior safety.

Goodwin addressed crime problems of special concern for seniors, including prescription drug theft, home safety tips and identity theft scams.

Over the past several months, U.S. Attorney Goodwin has visited senior center locations in Nicholas, Fayette, Summers, Boone, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, Monroe, Raleigh, Cabell, and Wayne counties to offer seniors various safety tips.

The visit to the McDowell County senior center also coincides with an initiative led by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia aimed at protecting West Virginia's elderly citizens.
