BECKLEY (WVVA) - Authorities investigating reports of a suspicious package at Sen. Jay Rockefeller's Beckley office cleared the scene around 1 p.m. Thursday after finding no cause for concern.

Details about the package in question have not been released, other than it was mailed for South Korea.

Approximately 60 people were evacuated from the North Kanawha Street location while the investigation was being conducted.

Andrew Beckner, West Virginia Press Secretary for Rockefeller's office, released the following statement concerning the incident:

"Our office in Beckley received a package we believed needed an extra set of eyes to determine its contents and its intent. Our staff takes an abundance of precaution when they receive mail, and strictly follow established Senate policies and procedures, which require precautionary steps of asking for assistance from security screeners in some cases."

-----

BECKLEY (WVVA) - A State Police bomb squad has been called to Sen. Jay Rockefeller's office in Beckley after a suspicious package was discovered inside the building.

The building on North Kanawha Street has been evacuated.
