Gill pleads guilty to Hinton house fire

HINTON (WVVA) - The Summers County man originally accused of setting fire to a row of apartments in Hinton has pleaded guilty to a separate fire.

Billy Gill pleaded guilty this week to arson in the first degree and attempted malicious assault in connection with a house fire on Fifth Street.

Previously, an arson charge against Gill in connection with the Brick Row Apartments fire was dropped due to inconclusive evidence.

The Fifth Street fire began shortly before the Brick Row fire on the morning of Feb 26.

Gill's cousin and her boyfriend were inside the home at the time.

Gill is scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 9 for sentencing.
