Blue Jays drop fifth straight

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) – The Bluefield Blue Jays aimed to put an end to their four-game losing streak Tuesday against Johnson City at Bowen Field.

The Jays held a 1-0 lead in the 6th, but struggled at the plate.

Bases are loaded for Dawel Lugo, who couldn't connect, and the Cards got out of the inning unharmed.

Bluefield gets the bats going in the 7th though, Alexis Maldonado with the grounder between third and short, scores a run to make it 2-0.

But Johnson City makes a push later, Richy Pedroza with the single up the middle to start the inning.

The next batter, Kenneth Walls, also gets in on the action with a line drive to right field that puts runners on first and second.

The cards would then cash in. Rowan Wick hits a dribbler to second, the throw to home is high and the runner slides in safe.

Then Justin Ringo would add a few more. His grounder gets to the grass and it's 4-2 Johnson City.

8. It would be all Cardinals after that, as they go on to pick up a 7-2 win.
