Leaders finish up preparations on Jamboree grounds

Posted:

GLEN JEAN, W. Va (WVVA)-- The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve is the future home of the 2013 National Boy Scout Jamboree.

Construction crews are putting the final touches on structures like the grand stand for concerts and all the tents are in place at the camps.

Leaders took media on a tour Monday to see how far they've come since construction began months ago.

The 10,600-acre property has been transformed into a place where scouts can go on outdoor adventures like mountain biking, hiking, and zip lining, but also a place where they can learn. One of the main themes of the jamboree, conservation, is highlighted throughout exhibits and even a unique treehouse that creates its own energy and recycles its own waste.
