Greenbrier Classic stimulates local economy

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va (WVVA)-- The Greenbrier Classic means lots of golf... but when people want a break from the crowds on the course they get out to explore the area.

Restaurants in Lewisburg and White Sulphur Springs have been preparing for months to get ready for the rush.

At Del Sol in Lewisburg, servers have been working overtime all week. They say the Classic has at least doubled their business, and their revenue.

Over in White Sulphur Springs, the home of the tournament, 50 East staff say they've been slammed every night.

It may be a challenge, but Kitchen Manager Brandon Kidd says it's well worth it.

"It happens all of a sudden," he said, "You look up and the restaurant's full. You've got a full front patio, a full back patio, and everybody's running around. It's orchestrated chaos. And it's so much fun, it's a really good time."
