Child Protect holds awards ceremony to honor the community


PRINCETON W. Va. (WVVA)- Child Protect, Mercer County's non-profit child advocacy center-- held its first ever awards ceremony today.

The ceremony honored those in the community who have volunteered or donated to help Child Protect better service the needs of the children of Mercer County who have been abused or neglected.

Child Protect was founded in 2001 and is under the direction of Executive Director Shiloh Woodard.

Woodard says that over the years, Child Protect has gained many strong partners in the community who have made it possible for the organization to grow.

She held this evening's awards ceremony as a way to say thank you.

Woodard says that she would like to make the awards ceremony an annual event.
