Suspect arrested after three wounded in Bluefield shooting

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - A Bluefield, Va., man is in custody after allegedly firing a shotgun at a group of people, injuring three.

Matthew Allen Jackson, 23, is charged with malicious wounding and wanton endangerment.

The incident happened just before 3 a.m. at East River Park on Augusta Street in Bluefield, W.Va..

Investigators say Jackson had been having a dispute with someone he thought was in a group of seven people gathered at the park. Police say it's unclear whether that person was actually in the group.

Jackson allegedly fired a shotgun at the group, injuring three people.

The victims were treated at Bluefield Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Investigators add that Jackson is facing more charges -- he has five warrants on file with The Bluefield Police Department for failure to appear.
