If you are looking to earn your GED some time soon, school officials want you to know about some changes coming to the test.  Starting in January of 2014, a new GED High School Equivalency will be used.

If you are in the process of testing (both partial and full) now, you will have to complete it by December, 2013. According to a release from South Bend Community School Corporation, there will be no options to complete the current GED after December, 2013.  There will also be no carry-over of any partial current GED scores to the 2014 Test

They go on to say, "In general many of the essential math, reading and language skills required to prepare for the current GED will also be necessary for the new 2014 Test.  The new 2014 Test, however, may include additional skill requirements beyond the current GED Test in areas such as math.  Complete 2014 Test details will be fully released statewide this summer.

Students who enter SBCSC Adult Education GED classes for the remainder of 2013 will prepare for the appropriate version of the GED Test they plan to take (the current GED until December, 2013 or the new 2014 Test starting in January, 2014).

SBCSC daytime and evening testing and classes are available all summer and fall."

If you need more information on getting your GED, call the SBCSC Adult Education Office at 574-283-7505.
