Senator Manchin targets NRA in new ad

BLUEFIELD, W. Va (WVVA)-- Some may feel accustomed to seeing candidates go after each other in political ads, but the latest ad from Senator Joe Manchin is a bit out of the norm.

Manchin's new ad was created in response to NRA allegations that he has abandoned the Second Amendment.

In the advertisement, Manchin says he does not march in lock-step with the NRA. You may recall the Senator co-sponsored a bill to expand background checks for gun buyers.

The bill died in the Senate this past spring.

We understand that Manchin has spent close to $100,000 in campaign funds to finance the new ad.

"I won't sell my gun to a stranger," he told WVVA.

He is not up for re-election until 2018.
