HUNTINGTON (WVVA) - A man who eluded police for more than a year after failing to appear for his child porn sentencing in Mercer County has been indicted by a federal grand jury.

Brett David Bowyer, 34, of Scarbro in Fayette County, was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury in Huntington for allegedly failing to appear for a May 2012 sentencing hearing in Bluefield on May 30, 2012.

Bowyer had previously pleaded guilty in October 2011 to possession of child pornography. He had been employed by Mercer County Schools as a coach and counselor at Princeton Senior High School.

His case was featured on "America's Most Wanted" last fall.

Bowyer was apprehended on June 12 in Brevard County, Fla., after being pulled over by a Highway Patrolman for failing to change lanes for a Brevard County deputy.

As seen in dash cam video of his arrest, Bowyer initially gave the patrolman a false identity before a fingerprint test revealed that he was a fugitive.

Bowyer faces up to five more years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted. He remains in custody in Florida awaiting extradition back to West Virginia.
