Man hospitalized after rafting accident

OAK HILL (WVVA) - A man was hospitalized Tuesday after falling overboard during a rafting excursion.

The man -- from Ohio -- was among multiple individuals who fell out of a raft at Double Z Rapids, near Nuttallburg, Tuesday afternoon.

Raft guides pulled the individuals from the water, including the man -- who was unresponsive.

A guide with Adventures on the Gorge and another individual revived the victim using CPR. The man was then transported by CSX high railer to a nearby location where an ambulance took him to Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

As of Tuesday evening he was in stable condition.

National Park Service rangers are investigating the incident.
