Cherry St. to be closed for AEP repairs; BRMC entrance affected

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - Cherry Street in Bluefield will be closed from 5-8:30 p.m. Thursday evening as Appalachian Power crews work to repair equipment damaged by a recent automobile accident.

Only emergency traffic will be allowed from Highland Avenue to the Bluefield Regional Medical Center entrance during the time frame.

Other motorists should seek alternate routes.

As a result of the repair work, approximately 40 customers in the immediate area will be without electrical service during that time.

BRMC's main hospital will be operating on generator power during the outage. The emergency room will remain open and on normal power.

Any non-emergency needing to gain access to the hospital during the road closure can use the back entrance off Bryant Street.
