Winery aims to spark tourism in Southwest Va.

TAZEWELL (WVVA) - Plum Creek Winery in Thompson Valley, Virginia opened its doors this past March, hoping to promote tourism to the Southwest Virginia area.

Owners, Brian and Donna Allison say they've welcomed people near and far, "We've had people as far as Arizona and Colorado, some from Richmond and Roanoke and many from right here in Tazewell."

This family owned and operated business picks the fruit straight out of their garden and lets it sit in fruit grade drums for five to seven days before straining it. The family bottles and labels the wine themselves also.

Keeping everything local, the Allison's hope this business will not only spark more tourism but also encourage others to support other local businesses across the region.

Plum Creek Winery offers a variety of flavors and they give free samples to help you decide which one you want to take home. However, the winery has so much more to offer than just wine. They offer T-shirts, hats and a very scenic view for everyone to enjoy.
