BLUEFIELD (WVVA) -- The severe weather threat for the Two Virginias has ended, but a squall line from early in the afternoon Thursday brought flooding, wind damage and hail to the area. Many towns through out Mercer, Giles, Summers, Bland, & Tazewell counties have reported downed trees. An official wind gust in Bluefield was measured at 62mph Thursday afternoon during a severe thunderstorm.
Power outages are also widespread following these storms, especially in Mercer, Raleigh, Bland, Tazewell, and Fayette Counties. Outages as of 2:30 were in the thousands.

Hail up to an inch in diameter was reported in the Athens, Tazewell and Princeton areas.
Flooding has been reported in the Sophia area of Raleigh county. WVVA is getting reports of homes damaged by flooding. More details will be posted soon.
Showers and storms look to taper off as we head through the rest of the afternoon/evening.
