BECKLEY (WVVA) – Three people say they're no heroes, but that's not what the city of Beckley seems to think.

Tuesday night, Christina Brown, Jonathan De Mello and James Tate were honored with the "Good Citizen Award" at the Beckley Common Council meeting.

After a domestic dispute made its way into the Plaza Mall in Beckley, where all three work, Christina was able to lock the woman up in her store, while James escorted the man, Michael Wafford, to the parking lot.

It was there that James says Wafford stabbed him several times in the mid-section.  Jonathan was able to bandage Jame's wounds, arguably saving his life, until an ambulance arrived.

"I know if John hadn't been here, I don't think I would've made it.  When I got to the hospital, they asked me, was there an EMT on the scene? I said no.  They said, well who packed your wound?  I said, John did…[John] packed my wound.  He said, well I think he saved your life.

The suspect 38-year-old, Wafford, is being held in Southern Regional Jail.
