Miners upend Slippery Rock 6-3

BECKLEY (WVVA) - The West Virginia Miners were back in Beckley Tuesday after last week's four-game road trip for a series with Slippery Rock.

The first few innings were very quiet. Robert Tavone Jr. hit a single under the second baseman's glove to put runners on third and first.

The next batter, Evan Potter, grounded into the inning-ending 6-4-3 double play to keep the game scoreless.

Miners start to get going in the fourth. Potter with the blooper into right field, that makes it 1-0.

Kevin Johnstone would shut down Slippery Rock from there.

Miners get some more offense in the fifth. Pat Kregeloh with the pop fly...that finds green and makes it 2-0 West Virginia.

A few batters later, Zach Woolcock sends a pitch right back up the gut for an RBI as the Miners keep things going and grab a 6-3 win.
