New water test could reinforce concerns of Fayette residents

FAYETTE COUNTY (WVVA) - An outcry from citizens in Fayette County, may actually have some grounds.

New water tests are showing oil and gas drilling waste could be leaking into water near the Lochgelly underground injection control well, at Wolfcreek.

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection had denied the Lochgelly well was dangerous to water.

Last week, a public hearing was held for residents of Fayette County to voice their concerns.

The DEP is investigating to see if the samples do in fact trace back to the well.
