Police: Man arrested after marijuana mailed to home

BECKLEY (WVVA) - A man is arrested after drugs were allegedly mailed to his home.

Investigators in Charleston intercepted a suspicious package, then contacted police in Beckley, who discovered it contained 5 pounds of marijuana.

Police with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office say it was addressed to Jamie Smith of Beckley.

They used a local delivery service to notify Smith to come pick it up. When he took possession of it, police took him into custody Wednesday evening.

They later served a warrant on a home in Harper Road where they also recovered an unreleased amount of money and a handgun.

Smith was charged with possession with intent to deliver and released on $25,000 bond.

The Raleigh County Sheriff's office, West Virginia State Police, Beckley Police Department, Charleston Metro police, and a federal agency worked on the case.
