RICHLANDS (WVVA) Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) announced one of its most ambitious undertakings in its 45 year history on Wednesday.

For more than a year, corporate and community leaders, as well as SWCC faculty and staff have been working diligently to raise funds in support of the SWCC No Limits Major Gifts Campaign.

The goal of the campaign is $4.5 million. It has already raised $3.2 million. The campaign will primarily be focused on generating funding for the three most critical needs of the campus- Workforce Advancement, Instructional Excellence, and Scholarships for Access and Success. The funding will help to equip Southwest Virginia's workforce with 21st century skills.

In addition, the No Limits campaign includes an unfeatured initiative of a bell tower to be located on campus. The bell tower will not only enhance the campus, but will serve as a critical component in the school's emergency preparedness system.

The tower will feature an alarm system that will alert the campus and surrounding community of any man-made or natural disaster that may occur.
