OAK HILL (WVVA) - A controversy in Fayette County brought more than 60 people to a public hearing Tuesday night at Oak Hill High School.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection was gathering feedback on a re-permit application for a Lochgelly injection well that pumps oil and gas drilling waste underground.
Some opposed to the well are nervous it is contaminating their water and causing health hazards, while supporters say that's not the case.
Data from Tuesday night's hearing will be reviewed and the fate of what to do with the well is expected in two to three weeks.
