Caperton not interested in running for any office

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Former West Virginia Gov. Gaston Caperton says he's not interested in running for any elected office.

That includes U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller's seat. Rockefeller announced in January that he won't seek a sixth term in 2014.

Caperton tells the Charleston Daily Mail that if he ran for the U.S. Senate and won, he'd be 81 years old at the end of the six-year term. He says he's healthy and plans to continue working hard. But there's an aging process that can't be beaten.

Caperton says he's interested in finding ways to help improve education and economic development in West Virginia.

He retired in June 2012 as president of the New York-based College Board. He now works with an investment company that buys education companies.
