UPDATE: Child struck by vehicle in Greenbrier County

FAIRLEA (WVVA) - A four-year-old child was injured Friday after being struck by a vehicle in Greenbrier County.

Roger Baker with the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department says the four-year-old boy was hit around 1:30 p.m. while walking along Route 219 with his mother after going grocery shopping.

Baker said the child apparently ran into the road in front of oncoming traffic, where a vehicle struck him with its side mirror.

The boy was transported to the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and deputies say he was alert and talking.

No charges are expected against the driver, who Baker says was not at fault in the accident.
