RAINELLE, W. Va (WVVA)-- A ribbon-cutting at the new Rainelle Elementary School on Wednesday celebrated the growth in the area.

Educators, community members, and even West Virginia's First Lady Joanne Tomblin attended the dedication. Speakers told the crowd that the school was a testament to the love the community has for its students.

The school actually opened earlier this year after the building was completed. To view that report, click here.

Parents in attendance told WVVA the new building gives their kids better opportunities to succeed, and that makes all the difference.

"This is fantastic," said Jason Osborne, whose sons go to Rainelle Elementary. "A new facility, state-of-the-art equipment... it gives them an opportunity, an advantage to further their careers and educational opportunities."

The Board of Education plans to have the old school building torn down later this year.
