UPDATE: 'Medical event' led to truck crashing through restaurant


RICHLANDS (WVVA) - Police say a medical event likely led to a truck crashing through the front of a Richlands restaurant Monday evening.

Chief Frank Dorton with the Richlands Police Department tells WVVA News that the driver of a Ford pickup apparently suffered a "medical event" that resulted in the truck jumping a curb and crashing through the front of the Lunch Box Cafe and Bakery around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

There was no word on the nature of the medical event.

No one was inside the restaurant when the crash occurred. The driver was treated minor injuries.

Dorton estimated that the restaurant suffered approximately $20,000 in damages.


RICHLANDS (WVVA)- A local restaurant is picking up the pieces after a truck crashed through the front door.

The accident occurred around 6:30pm at The Lunch Box Cafe and Bakery in Richlands.

The cause of the accident is unknown and it is also unknown if there were any injuries as the Richlands Police Department continues to investigate.
