FAIRLEA, W. Va (WVVA)-- A man is charged with arson after a fire at a Greenbrier County gas station.

State Police said Cory Bowyer of Ronceverte set fire to a truck while pumping gas around 5 PM Sunday night.

It happened at the Sunoco station in Fairlea.

Police said in a report that Bowyer used a lighter to set the truck on fire as he pumped gas into it. One man, who was inside the truck at the time, was injured and taken to the ER for burns.

A witness tells WVVA he feared an explosion at the pumps.

Darrell Fulton said, "The truck was shooting flames up, and the owner of the store here brought a jug of water and started throwing it on there. We didn't want to blow up."

Bowyer is charged with 3rd Degree Arson and Malicious Wounding.

He was released on $10,000 bond.
