$1M Powerball ticket sold in Va.

LORTON -- Although the jackpot-winning ticket in the record-setting May 18 Powerball drawing was not bought in Virginia, the Commonwealth benefitted from the excitement. During the jackpot run that began after the March 30 drawing and continued until Saturday's drawing, sales of Powerball tickets in Virginia generated an estimated $13 million in profit. By law, all of that profit goes to K-12 public schools in the Commonwealth.

More than 210,000 Powerball tickets bought in Virginia won prizes in last night's drawing, ranging from $4 to a ticket that won $1 million. That million-dollar ticket was bought at Food Lion, 7760 Gunston Plaza in Lorton.  An additional 11 tickets in Virginia each won $10,000.
