Princeton FD offers car seat safety assistance

PRINCETON (WVVA) - A local fire department was doing its part Saturday to keep kids safe from more than just fires.

It was the fourth-annual Child Safety Day at the Princeton Fire Department.

Motorists were able to stop by and get a child safety seat properly fitted for their vehicle.

Visitors could also learn about bicycle safety, get a free bike helmet, and get some informational coloring books.

Firefighters say that it is important to teach area kids about safety not only from fire, but from various other dangers.

"It's very important that we start at an early age teaching child safety to these kids because you want them to learn it early and then they can practice it as they get older and then that makes them more responsible adults," said Charlie Croy of the Princeton FD.

If you were not able to make it to the event Saturday, you can stop by the fire station anytime to get you child seat fitted to your vehicle.
