WVVA EXCLUSIVE: Family and Friends Remember Fallen Officer

TAZEWELL (WVVA)--- Friends, family, and fellow officers filled a gym in Tazewell on Saturday to remember the man they say was taken too soon.

"It is hard and we are still dealing with it today," said Trooper Matthew Coake who worked alongside Trooper Fox with the Pulaski detachment of the Virginia State Police.

"We are always there to support each other and I think we are all holding each other up, and we are going to be ok," says Lauren Fox Andrew Fox's sister.

Lauren Fox came in from Florida for the ceremony. Something she says was automatic.

"It is important for my children to see who their uncle was. It is important for all of us to be here to show our support for him."

Fox was directing traffic at the State Fair on Route 30 in Hanover County last Friday when he was struck and killed by an SUV.

Fox was wearing his safety vest when struck.

Fox was a Tazewell County native and Virginia Tech graduate who served with the Tazewell Police Department before becoming a state trooper.
